Dreamboats and Petticoats to Return to the West End for a Season at Wyndham's Theatre
By Mark Shenton
Dreamboats and Petticoats, which closed at the West End's Playhouse Theatre in July, is to return to the West End, beginning performances Oct. 16 for a run through Jan. 19.
The return run coincides with the release of "Dreamboats and Petticoats 6," the latest instalment of the multi-million selling compilation recordings that feature some of the greatest songs of the rock 'n' roll era.
The show, set in1961, revolves around "young musicians Norman and Bobby who compete to win a national song writing competition – and, more importantly, the attention of the gorgeous Sue. But when Bobby discovers that shy Laura is no slouch on the piano, love and rock 'n' roll fame beckons."
Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, who are best known as the writers of TV's "Goodnight Sweetheart," "Birds of a Feather," "The New Statesmen" and "Shine On Harvey Moon," it features such songs as "Let's Dance," "To Know Him Is To Love Him," "Shaking All Over," "Bobby's Girl," "Little Town Flirt," "Only Sixteen," "Runaround Sue," "Happy Birthday Sweet 16," "Let it Be Me" and "Let's Twist Again."
It is produced by Bill Kenwright and Laurie Mansfield in association with Universal Music.
