Joel Schumacher Will Direct Ellen Barkin in Benefit Reading of The Parisian Woman
By Andrew Gans
The Flea Theater will present a benefit reading of The Parisian Woman Oct. 22 at 6 PM at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center. The Flea commissioned Academy Award nominee Beau Willimon (Farragut North) to adapt Henry Becque’s La Parisienne. Directed by Joel Schumacher, the reading will star Tony winner Ellen Barkin (The Normal Heart, "The New Normal"). The Parisian Woman, according to press notes, "is now set in contemporary Washington D.C. To what lengths will a woman go to advance the political career of her husband? The Parisian Woman tears the veil off adultery in this modern retelling of the scandalous affairs of a bored and intelligent wife left to her own devices." The cost of a ticket is $250 and includes pre-show cocktails. All premium event tickets are sold out at this time. To reserve a seat, call (212) 226-0051, ext. 102 or visit www.theflea.org. |
