Jason Robert Brown's Parade, which took home the 1999 Tony Award for Best Original Score, opened Dec. 17, 1998. Here, Playbill.com looks back at Brown's career with songs from Parade, The Last Five Years, Songs for a New World and more.



Brown is also the composer of 13 and contributed music to Broadway's Urban Cowboy, for which he was also the production's musical director and conductor.

As previously announced, his new musical The Bridges of Madison County will get an early winter reading, and his Last Five Years will receive a 2013 New York revival by Second Stage Theatre.

Brown also posted a new piece on his website entitled "Twenty-Six Names," which serves as a tribute to the 26 lost in the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. Listen here:
