Off-Broadway Comedy Triassic Parq The Musical Will Make West Coast Debut in 2013
By Adam Hetrick
The 2010 Fringe Festival Award winner for Best Musical, Triassic Parq The Musical, which played an Off-Broadway run last summer, will receive its West Coast premiere Jan. 30, 2013, at the Chance Theater in Annaheim Hills, CA.
Written by Marshall Pailet, Bryce Norbitz and Stephen Wargo, Triassic Parq The Musical will be staged by Pailet. It will be choreographed by Kelly Todd with musical direction by Taylor Stephenson. Performances are scheduled through Feb. 24, 2013.
In addition, Pailet will be the playwright-in-residence at Chance Theater and will have two of his productions workshopped there.
A cast album of the Off-Broadway production of Triassic Parq The Musical was released Dec. 14.
The musical is billed as "the story of 'Jurassic Park' told from the perspective of the dinosaurs. It takes a minor premise from the movie - that a handful of the genetically engineered female dinosaurs have spontaneously turned male - and runs with it until the audience's legs get tired. An epic tale of love, loss and interspecies fornication, these resurrected reptiles will touch you in ways both moving and inappropriate. The ride is ridiculous to say the least, but beneath the absurdity and chaos is a sincere story of identity crisis and loss of faith."
The West Coast cast will include Alex Bueno, Micaela Martinez, Kellie Spill, Jackson Tobiska, Keaton Williams and Camryn Zelinger.
The production will have scenic design by Joe Holbrook, costume design by Anthony Tran, lighting design by Matt Schlecter and prop design by Masako Tobaru.
