Wesley Taylor, Molly Camp and More Will Join Charles Busch for Staged Reading of The Silver Cord
By Andrew Gans
Award-winning actor-writer Charles Busch will star in The Peccadillo Theater Company’s upcoming staged reading of Sidney Howard’s 1926 play The Silver Cord Jan. 14 at Theatre at St. Clement’s.
Obie winner Dan Wackerman will direct a cast that also features the newly reported Jessie Austrian, Molly Camp, Robert Eli and Wesley Taylor. Show time is 7 PM.
The Silver Cord, according to press notes, "centers on a domineering matriarch (Charles Busch) who is pathologically close to her sons."
Originally starring Laura Hope Crews, the play opened Dec. 26, 1926, at the Golden Theatre, running for 112 performances. Crews subsequently starred in the 1933 RKO film version with Irene Dunne, Joel McCrea and Frances Dee.
Theatre at St. Clement’s is located at 423 West 46th Street (between Ninth & Tenth Ave.). General admission is $25, and reservations may be made by calling (212) 352-3101. For more information visit www.ThePeccadillo.com.
