Tony Award nominee Yul Vázquez will reunite with the complete original Broadway cast of Stephen Adly Guirgis' The Motherf**ker with the Hat for L.A. Theatre Works beginning Jan. 31 at the James Bridges Theater.
The Motherf**ker with the Hat will be presented through Feb. 2. Vázquez, who earned a Tony Award nomination for portraying Cousin Julio, will repeat his work alongside fellow original cast members Chris Rock, Bobby Cannavale, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Annabella Sciorra.
All LATW performances are recorded and broadcast on LATW's nationally syndicated radio theatre series, "The Play's the Thing."
Here's how the play was described on Broadway: "Jackie and Veronica have been in love since the 8th grade. But now, Jackie is on parole and living clean and sober under the guidance of his sponsor, Ralph D, while still living and loving with his volatile soul mate Veronica who is fiercely loving, but far from sober. Still, their love is pure. And true. Nothing can come between them — except a hat."
Guirgis' plays include Jesus Hopped the A Train, Little Flower Of East Orange, In Arabia We'd All Be Kings, Our Lady Of 121st Street, Den Of Thieves and Dominica The Fat Ugly Ho.
The original production of The Motherf**ker with the Hat premiered on Broadway in 2011, where it ran for 112 regular performances. It earned Tony Award nominations for Best Play, and acting nominations for Cannavale, Rodriguez and Vazquez.
