By Andrew Gans
Broadway veterans Brad Little, Sandra Joseph and Danny Zolli have been cast in Neil Berg’s The Phantoms of the Opera, which will make its world premiere April 4-5 in Texas A&M University’s Rudder Auditorium in College Station, TX.
Three-time Tony nominee Marc Kudisch will direct. Additional casting will be announced.
In a statement creator-producer Berg stated, "We are elated to welcome these three actors to our ‘Phantoms’ project. Brad and Sandra have each starred in thousands of performances of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and across the globe. This music is a part of them. We couldn’t be in better hands!"
"This never-before-seen production celebrates the extraordinary history of the four musical theater adaptations of Gaston Leroux's dramatic tale of obsession and desire, 'The Phantom of the Opera,'" according to press notes. "Berg and his Broadway creative team masterfully weave the untold history of the major Phantom productions through the most dramatic moments in song beginning with the gorgeous original by Ken Hill, continuing with Kopit and Yeston's masterpiece (Phantom) and concluding with the theater-changing productions by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. Expect lots of surprises on stage, including a full chorus, with this spellbinding theatrical concert you will never forget."
OPAS executive director Anne Black added, "The pieces of the world premiere are coming together and our board of directors, student committee and staff couldn’t be more excited. As the performance dates draw nearer, expect even more exciting news!"
