Broadway Performer Tim Federle Will Sign Showbiz Novel "Better Nate Than Ever" at Drama Book Shop Feb. 5
By Adam Hetrick
Author and Broadway performer Tim Federle will sign copies of his new book "Better Nate Than Ever" Feb. 5 at the Drama Book Shop. The novel for young readers and theatre lovers of all ages follows a young Broadway fan who makes a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New York City in pursuit of his big break.
Federle, who has appeared on Broadway in Gypsy with Bernadette Peters, as well as The Little Mermaid and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will be part of a Q&A session with Tony Award-winning producer and Disney Theatricals Productions president Thomas Schumacher at 5:30 PM. A book signing will follow at 6 PM. The Drama Book Shop is located at 250 W. 40th Street.
"Better Nate Than Ever," which will be released Feb. 5 by Simon & Schuster, marks Federle's debut as a novelist. A sequel to the book is in the works.
Federle was a swing, dance captain and associate choreographer for the Broadway production of Billy Elliot, and the novel is inspired by the young performers who auditioned for the show — one in particular who carried a lucky rabbit's foot behind his back during his audition.
Here's how it's described: "'Better Nate Than Ever' invites readers on an adventure with Nate Foster, a small-town eighth grader with big-city dreams. For Nate's whole life, all he’s wanted is to be in a Broadway show. (Heck, he'd settle for seeing a Broadway show.) But how is Nate supposed to make his dreams come true when he's stuck in Jankburg, Pennsylvania, where no one (except his best pal Libby) appreciates a good show tune? With Libby's help, Nate plans a daring overnight escape to New York. There's an open casting call for E.T.: The Musical, and Nate knows this could be the difference between small-town blues and big-time stardom."
Next week Playbill Video will launch an exclusive series featuring Federle and a handful of Broadway's youngest stars.
