PHOTO CALL: Well-Strung: The Singing String Quartet Begins Off-Broadway Run
By Krissie Fullerton
Well-Strung: The Singing String Quartet, featuring a boy-band string quartet that covers classical and contemporary sounds, returns to New York City for a limited three-week engagement beginning Feb. 28 at the The Marjorie S. Deane Theater.
Directed by Donna Drake (Chorus Line, Sophisticated Ladies, Woman of the Year, The Wind in the Willows), Well-Strung plays Thursday-Saturday evenings at 8 PM through March 16.
Well-Strung is described as "a 'mash-up of string quartet and boy band' that features classical musicians who sing, putting their own spin on the music of Mozart, Vivaldi, Pink, Lady Gaga, Adele and more."
The quartet is made up of Edmund Bagnell (first national tour of Sweeney Todd, directed by John Doyle) on first violin, Christopher Marchant (Sweeney Todd national tour) on second violin, Daniel Shevlin (Off-Broadway's The Sandbox) on cello and Trevor Wadleigh (The String Collective of New York) on viola.
