PHOTO CALL: Erin Davie, Ben Davis, Stephen Wallem and More Rehearse the York's Silk Stockings
By Krissie Fullerton
The York Theatre Company's Musicals in Mufti concert presentation of the 1955 Cole Porter musical Silk Stockings, inspired by the film "Ninotchka," features Erin Davie, Ben Davis, Stephen Wallem and more.
Silk Stockings, based on Ernst Lubitsch's satiric romantic comedy, "uses the plot and characters of the film to launch a hot romance during the height of the cold war," according to York. The score includes "All of You," "Paris Loves Lovers" and "As On Through The Seasons We Sail," among other songs, plus an interpolated Porter song — "What Is This Thing Called Love?" Performances will play March 22-24 at York Theatre at St. Peter's at 54th Street and Lexington Avenues.
The production features Davis as Steve and Davie as Ninotchka, plus Erick Devine as Commissioner Markovitch, Erica Dorfler, David Garrison as Comrade Bibinski, Leah Hocking as a vivacious American performer Janice Dayton, Andrew Kluger, Mark Price, Kilty Reidy, Danny Rutigliano as Ivanov, Alet Taylor and Stephen Wallem as Branoff.

Tickets are priced at $39.50 and are available online at yorktheatre.org, by calling (212) 935-5820, or in person at the box office at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue), Monday through Friday (noon-6 PM).
The York Theatre Company's Musicals in Mufti series offers musicals "in a simply-staged, book-in-hand concert format…without the trappings associated with the original full productions."
The York Theatre Company is the only theatre in New York City — and one of very few in the world — dedicated to developing and fully producing new musicals and preserving neglected, notable shows from the past.
Under the guidance of producing artistic director James Morgan since 1997, the York has focused exclusively on new musicals in its Mainstage Series — most of them world, American, or New York premieres.
