Andrea Marcovicci Will Workshop New Cabaret Act, Moonlight Cocktail, at The Gardenia
By Andrew Gans
Cabaret favorite Andrea Marcovicci, who made her Café Carlyle debut last fall in a critically acclaimed limited engagement, will debut her newest act this summer at The Gardenia in West Hollywood.
Entitled Moonlight Cocktail, the singing actress will offer performances June 20-22 at 9 PM.
Moonlight Cocktail, according to press notes, "celebrates that bygone era of sophisticated New York nightlife of dining and dancing at The Stork Club and the El Morocco. And at Tony's, Spivy's and The Blue Angel where the singers that enthralled you became household names like Mabel Mercer, Bobby Short, Julie Wilson, Hildegarde, Portia Nelson, Billie Holiday and more. Andrea's nostalgic spin through the forties and fifties, when an evening began at one club before winding down with fine champagne at another, is filled with her unique insight, charm and wit. She reveals the backstage stories while capturing the joi de vivre of the era."
Song titles will include "Sunday in New York," "You Fascinate Me So," "Darling Je Vous Aime Beaucoup," "All in Fun," "Talk of the Town," "Some Other Time" and "Moonlight Cocktail."
Marcovicci released her latest recording, which is titled "Smile," via CDBaby.com. The new recording features musical director/arranger Shelly Markham on piano, Kevin Axt on bass, M.B. Gordy on drums/percussion, Grant Geissman on guitar, banjo and ukulele, Giovanna Clayton on cello, Jeff Brunnell on cornet, flugelhorn and trumpet and James Honeyman on soprano and tenor saxophone.
The complete track listing follows:
1. It's Only a Paper Moon
Marcovicci is the executive producer of "Smile"; producers are Shelly Markham and Lesley Alexander.
