Planet Connections Gala Will Feature New One-Act Plays by Neil LaBute, John Patrick Shanley and Winter Miller

Three new one-act plays by acclaimed playwrights Neil LaBute (Reasons to Be Pretty), John Patrick Shanley (Doubt) and Winter Miller (In Darfur) will be presented at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity gala, One Acts for a Cause, June 16 at the Alice Griffin Jewelbox Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center.



The evening, which will start with a VIP reception with the playwrights at 6:30 PM followed by the performance at 7:30 PM, will raise funds for the non-profit Safe Horizon, the leading victim services agency in the United States.

LaBute and Miller's pieces will make their world premiere. LaBute's one-act Over the River and Through the Woods will feature direction by Glory Kadigan, founder and producing artistic director of Planet Connections; Shanley's one-act Tennessee will feature direction by Lori Kee and was originally produced in 2012 by the Nylon Fusion Company; and Miller's one-act This Is How We Do It will feature direction by Gaye Taylor Upchurch.

Casting will be announced at a later date.

The creative team will include Jenna Lazar (stage manager), Isabelle Fields (costume design), Christopher Weston (lighting designer) and Jacob Subotnick (sound designer).

The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, a New York eco-friendly and socially-conscious theatre, music and film festival, runs May 30-June 23 at the Robert Moss Theatre (440 Lafayette Street) and the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street).
