The Seagull, Enchanted April, A Midsummer Night's Dream Featured in Circle in the Square's Spring Festival of Theatre
By Carey Purcell
The Circle in the Square Theatre School's graduating class will perform in the school's annual Spring Festival of Theatre, featuring five full-length productions of plays and musicals. Performances begin May 3.
The first three plays that will be performed in the 2013 Festival of Theatre are Anton Chekhov's The Seagull (directed by Alan Langdon, May 3-4), Matthew Barber's Enchanted April (directed by Andrea Haring, May 10-11) and William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream (directed by Edward Berkeley, May 17-18).
Established in 1961 and accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre, the Circle in the Square Theatre School is the only conservatory in a Broadway theatre. The School was created by the late Theodore Mann and his long-time partner Paul Libin, and the annual Festival of Theatre is one of three outreach programs that the School has provided since 1995.
The School's alumni include Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kevin Bacon, Lady Gaga, Idina Menzel, Nicole Ari Parker, Benicio Del Toro, Felicity Huffman, Jeremy Shamos, Molly Shannon, Matthew Lillard and Justin Kirk.
Performances take place at the Circle in the Square Theatre and are open to the public for a $5 suggested donation. Reservations are required. Seats can be reserved by calling (212) 307-0388 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. More information can be found at circlesquare.org.
