By Adam Hetrick
Justin Sayre's The Meeting* will continue May 16 with a tribute to Tony Award nominee Justin Vivian Bond at the Duplex. Molly Pope will be among the performers at the early show.
The Meeting* is a monthly "gay romp through politics (sexual and otherwise), social news, music, comedy skits, and other important life-changing information." The gay variety show dedicates each installment to a different icon; show times are 7 PM and 9:30 PM.
Pope will perform during the 7 PM presentation that marks the fourth anniversary of the series. The 9:30 PM tribute to Bond, a Tony Award nominee for Kiki & Herb, will include Nicholas Gorham, Carol Lipnik, Shane Shane, Chris Tyler and Reginald M. Lamar.
Bond is a celebrated author, performer and visual artist. V, as Bond is also known, is an advocate for the trans community and the use of gender-neutral pronouns.
As previously reported, original "Weather Girl" Martha Wash, Tony Award nominee Christiane Noll and Pope will be part of the third annual Night of a Thousand Judys, celebrating showbiz icon Judy Garland, June 17 at the Kaufman Center. It is a special installment of The Meeting*.
