Once Tony Winner Steve Kazee Will Return to 54 Below This Summer
By Adam Hetrick
Tony Award-winning Once leading man Steve Kazee will return to 54 Below this summer for a five-performance engagement in mid-July. The evenings will feature the actor-musician's band, The Shiny Liars.
Kazee made his 54 Below solo debut earlier this spring. He will return for performances on July 8 (7 PM), July 10 (7 PM), July 11 (7 PM), July 12 (8 PM) and July 13 (8 PM). The concerts include several original songs by Kazee and the Shiny Liars. The concerts also offer audiences a first listen to material Kazee plans to capture on his upcoming debut album, which is aiming for an early fall release.
According to 54 Below, "Written in an alt-country vein and reflecting his southern upbringing, Kazee's inspirations are artists such as Damien Jurado, Night Beds, Wilco and others, a few of which Kazee will cover at the show."
Kazee departed the Broadway production of Once last month. Read Playbill.com's recent interview with Kazee here.
Kazee earned the 2012 Best Actor in a Musical Tony Award for Once. He has also appeared on Broadway in Spamalot as Sir Lancelot, as Starbuck opposite Audra McDonald in 110 in the Shade, as well as To Be or Not to Be and Edward Albee's Seascape.
Tickets are priced $35-$55. There is a $25 food/beverage minimum. 54 Below is located at 254 W. 54th Street. Tickets and additional information are available at 54Below.com.
