Idina Menzel, who took home the Tony Award in 2004 for her performance as Elphaba in Wicked, celebrates her birthday May 30. Playbill looks back at her career.



Menzel also originated the role of Maureen Johnson in Jonathan Larson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Rent, earning a 1996 Tony Award nomination for her performance.
