By Carey Purcell
The Pasadena Pops' summer season at the Los Angeles County Arboretum begins June 1 with Michael Feinstein leading a "Michael Feinstein’s Songbook" program with singers Cheyenne Jackson and Lari White as guest artists.
The season will also feature a performance by three-time Tony winner Bernadette Peters June 29, with Larry Blank conducting. Also confirmed for the summer are Christine Ebersole, Ron Raines and Chuck Cooper.
Michael Feinstein will conduct three of the five shows of the series, including "Michael Feinstein’s MGM Movie Classics" (July 13), featuring guest singers Raines and Ebersole. Catherine Russell and Cooper will perform at "The Gershwins and Me" (Sept. 7).
"Classical Mystery Tour: Music of the Beatles" will be performed Aug. 10, with the Fab-revivalist foursome Classical Mystery Tour supported by the orchestra conducted by Martin Herman.
Feinstein was appointed to lead the summer series following the death of his predecessor Marvin Hamlisch in 2012.
The lawn is open to picnickers at 5:30 PM; shows begin at 7:30 PM. More information can be found at pasadenasymphony-pops.org.
