By Michael Gioia
The 31st Annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards were held June 3 at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. The cirque-inspired revival of Pippin and the high-grossing musical Motown took home top honors.
Presenters at the awards ceremony included Tony Award winners Susan Stroman, Bebe Neuwirth, Cady Huffman, Kathleen Marshall and Karen Ziemba, Rex Reed, Lee Roy Reams and Harry Belafonte, and some of the special guest performers for the evening included Laura Osnes, Mary Testa, Christiane Noll and Anna Bergman.
