The Museum of the City of New York celebrates the 10th anniversary of its "Perform!" series, titled Making Room on Broadway, June 15 and 16 at 3 PM.
With musical direction by Christopher McGovern, the cabaret features Broadway performers Gregg Edelman (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, A Tale of Two Cities), Michael McElroy (Big River, The Wild Party), Christianne Tisdale (On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Beauty and the Beast) and Natalie Toro (A Tale of Two Cities, Les Misérables).
"Written and directed by Michael Montel, whose Broadway work includes Inge's Summer Brave, McCuller's The Member of the Wedding, and Barry's Holiday, this upcoming weekend's performances elegantly weave songs and stories about New York living space, inspired by the City Museum's exhibition 'Making Room: New Models for Housing New Yorkers,'" press notes state. "The production will showcase popular tunes befitting the theme, such as 'Blue Room' and 'Dancing on the Ceiling' by Rodgers and Hart, and 'Home' from The Wiz, as well as works by Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim and Cole Porter."
The Museum of the City of New York was founded in 1923 as a private, nonprofit corporation. Its exhibits and events celebrate the city's character, focusing on its diversity, opportunity and ongoing transformation.
