Johanna Day, R. Ward Duffy and Amelia Campbell Are Good People at Penn State Centre Stage, Starting June 12
By Andrew Gans
Penn State Centre Stage's production of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People begins performances June 12 in State College, PA.
Broadway's Johanna Day, who was Tony-nominated for her performance in Proof, stars as Margie Walsh. She is joined by R. Ward Duffy as her ex-boyfriend Mike and Tony nominee Amelia Campbell as Jean. Rounding out the cast are Joy Hooper, Jane Ridley and Kevin Toniazzo-Naughton.
Robert W. Schneider directs.
Good People, according to press notes, "is set in South Boston, where this month’s paycheck covers last month’s bills, bingo is a night on the town, and sharp-tongued single-mom Margie Walsh has just been let go from yet another job. Scrambling to make ends meet, she looks up an old flame, hoping he’ll help her make a fresh start in this humor-filled drama from Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire about how twists of fate determine our path."
The production also features scenic design by Shannon Knox, costume design by Laura Robinson, lighting design by Ken Freidhoff and sound design by Curtis Craig. Torrance Shephard is the dramaturg, and Charlotte Fleck is the dialect coach. Casting is by Stephanie Klapper.
