The Verdict: Critics Review Daniel Pearle's A Kid Like Jake, Starring Carla Gugino and Peter Grosz
By Adam Hetrick
Carla Gugino and Peter Grosz star in the LCT3 production of Daniel Pearle's Laurents/Hatcher Award-winning play A Kid Like Jake, about a young boy with a passion for Cinderella and playing dress up, which officially opened June 17 at the Claire Tow Theater.
Evan Cabnet (The Performers) stages the production for Lincoln Center Theater's developmental initiative LCT3. The production is scheduled to run through July 14.
According to LCT3, A Kid Like Jake is "the story of a husband and wife trying to do right by their son. Alex (Gugino) and her husband, Greg (Grosz), want only the best for their precocious four year old, Jake. When they apply to New York City private schools, part of what makes Jake special – his passion for Cinderella and dress-up – starts to cause concern."
