Mitzi Hamilton to Direct and Choreograph A Chorus Line for Theatre Under the Stars

Theatre Under the Stars will present A Chorus Line, directed and choreographed by Mitzi Hamilton, July 16-21 at Miller Outdoor Theatre.



Hamilton served as the inspiration for Val in the original Michael Bennett-helmed production of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical. She also performed the role of Val in the original London company and later on Broadway.

The cast includes Michael Callahan (Mike), Caitlin Cannon (Judy), Mike Cannon (Al), Erica Cenci (Bebe), Kevin Curtis (Richie), Rob Flebbe (Larry), Jessica Lee Goldyn (Cassie), Martin Harvey (Zach), Jordan Fife Hunt (Paul), Jolina Javier (Connie), Logan Keslar (Bobby), Julia Krohn (Kristine), Bryan Langlitz (Greg), Alissa LaVergne (Sheila), Kristen Paulicelli (Val), Michaeljon Slinger (Don), Selina Verastigui (Diana), Karley Willocks (Maggie) and Mikey Winslow (Mark) with Bobby Johnson Beck, Rachel Broussard, Mark Donaldson, George Garcia, Courtney Jones, Megan McGuff and Donald Shorter.

Inspired by true stories, A Chorus Line features music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban and a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante. The musical follows 17 dancers auditioning for a show. The original production won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

"The groundbreaking musical, set during an audition for an upcoming Broadway show, shines a light on the hopes, fears and dreams of performers vying for a chance to do what they all know they were born to do," press notes state.

The creative team of A Chorus Line includes Thom Culcasi as the conductor and musical director, Dennis Craig as the sound designer and Richard Winkler as the lighting designer.
