Ethan Coen's Women Or Nothing Begins Performances Off-Broadway Aug. 28; David Cromer Directs
By Carey Purcell
Ethan Coen’s first full-length play, Women Or Nothing, begins its world-premiere engagement at Off-Broadway's Atlantic Theater Company at the Linda Gross Theater Aug. 28. Deborah Rush, Halley Feiffer and Susan Pourfar star.
The production will officially open Sept. 16, and performances will continue through Oct. 6.
Directed by David Cromer (Adding Machine, Our Town, Tribes), the cast includes Robert Beitzel (Our Town), Halley Feiffer (The House of Blue Leaves), Susan Pourfar (Tribes) and Tony nominee Deborah Rush (Noises Off, Blithe Spirit, “Orange is the New Black,” “Strangers with Candy”).
"Women or Nothing is a play about two women so desperate to have a child that one of them will even sleep with a man," press notes state. "Who the man is, what he thinks is going on, what the women think about what he thinks, and what the mother of one of the women reveals about her own colorful past — it all defies belief. Why then does it all make sense?"
The production features scenic design by Michele Spadaro, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Bradley King and original music and sound design by Daniel Kluger.
