The Vineyard Theatre's production of John Kander's three-part musical The Landing, which was recently extended through Nov. 24, will be recorded by Jay Records, Playbill.com has learned.
Jay Records president John Yap told Playbill.com that the entire production will be recorded for release on a two-CD set. "At the moment we are looking to go into the studios on Nov. 18 and 19 to record the album," Yap said. A release date has not been announced.
The collaboration between Tony winner Kander (Cabaret, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Scottsboro Boys) and playwright/lyricist Greg Pierce features three mini-musicals tied together by the themes of desire, love and loss.
Directed by Walter Bobbie, the cast boasts Emmy and Tony winner David Hyde Pierce, Julia Murney, Paul Anthony Stewart and Frankie Seratch.
The production has set design by two-time Tony Award winner John Lee Beatty (The Nance, Talley's Folly), lighting design by Tony Award winner Ken Billington (Chicago, The Scottsboro Boys), costume design by Michael Krass (The Lyons, Twelve Angry Men) and sound design by Nevin Steinberg (Cinderella, Hair).
David Loud (The Scottsboro Boys, Curtains) is music director; orchestrations are by Larry Hochman and Paul Masse is conductor.
