Joan Collins to Return to London's Leicester Square Theatre in One-Woman Show
By Mark Shenton
Joan Collins will return to London's Leicester Square Theatre with her one-woman show, Joan Collins - One Night with Joan, beginning performances Feb. 2, 2014, and running through Feb. 9.
The show, which is directed by Percy Gibson, is produced by Martin Witts for London International Arts Theatre Ltd. (LIAT) in association with Leicester Square Theatre. Production design is by Oliver Sones.
In the show, she shares stories and secrets of her celebrated life and career in what press materials dub as "one of the world’s most glamorous and intriguing personalities." Among the many confidences, she tells of the ups and downs of her career and screens rare film footage from her life. It’s a chance to hear firsthand about her marriages, her screen test for "Cleopatra" and to discover why she lost the role to Elizabeth Taylor, her first on-set encounter with the formidable Bette Davis, being broke and why and how Hollywood changed her fortune.
In the second half of the evening there is a question-and-answer session.
She has published three memoirs, "Past Imperfect," "Second Act" and "Passion for Life." Together with her novels, they have sold over 50 million copies and been translated into 30 languages. She has appeared in over 100 feature films and TV series, including creating the role of Alexis Carrington on "Dynasty," one of the most highly rated television dramas of all time, and made guests appearances in "Space 1999" and "Will and Grace." She is married to theatrical manager Percy Gibson, and they live between their homes in Los Angeles, London, New York and the South of France.
