Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute presents A Charlie Brown Christmas, a special holiday Family Concert with The New York Pops and music director Steven Reineke, Dec. 21 at 2 PM in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.
The staged concert version of Charles M. Schulz's television special "brings the beloved Peanuts characters to life through special choreography performed by dancers from New York Theatre Ballet and child actors from TADA! Youth Theater," according to press notes.
Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia narrates the story, which is underscored by the music of Vince Guaraldi, performed by The New York Pops and Judith Clurman’s Essential Voices USA.
Diana Byer is the artistic director of New York Theatre Ballet; Liza Gennaro is the director and choreographer. The afternoon features costume design by Carmina de Dios.
Concert tickets are $10, $16 or $22. Purchases can be made at the Carnegie Hall Box Office (57th Street and 7th Avenue) or by calling CarnegieCharge at (212) 247-7800. Visit carnegiehall.org for more information.
Following the Family Concert, the Notables, Carnegie Hall’s young patrons, will host the Fourth Annual Family Party featuring food, crafts, cookie decorating and other Peanuts-themed activities for children. Proceeds support the music education and community programs of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.
