Hartford Stage will present the East Coast premiere of Somewhere, a dance-filled piece by Matthew Lopez (The Whipping Man) about a Puerto Rican family in 1959 New York City.

Featuring original music by Tony Award winner Bill Sherman and choreography by Greg Graham, Somewhere begins performances April 3, prior to an official opening April 11. The production will continue through May 4.

Directed by Giovanna Sardelli, the cast includes Zachary Infante (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Peter Pan), Tony Award winner Priscilla Lopez (A Chorus Line, A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine), Jessica Ann Naimy (South Pacific, A Chorus Line), Michael Rosen (West Side Story, Nikolai and the Others) and Cary Tedder (Big Fish, Memphis).

Here's how the production is billed: "In 1959, West Side Story is storming Broadway, and a movie version is on the way. It fuels the show-business dreams of Inez Candelaria (Lopez), who works as an usher but hopes that her children will succeed on the other side of the footlights."

Somewhere will feature scenic design by Donyale Werle, costume design by Amy Clark, lighting design by Philip Rosenberg and sound design by Jason Crystal. Lori Lundquist is production stage manager.
