By Michael Gioia
54 Below will present concert versions of Funny Girl, Applause and Time and Again as part of the venue's 54 Sings… series. Mimi Hines, who succeeded Barbra Streisand as Fanny Brice, will be among the cast of the Funny Girl concert.
Funny Girl concerts will be held March 26 — 50 years since Streisand opened the musical by Bob Merrill (lyrics), Jule Styne (music) and Isobel Lennart (book) at Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre — at 7 PM and 9:30 PM.
Directed by Phil Geoffrey Bond with music direction by John McDaniel, the evening will also feature performances from Carole J. Bufford, Donna Lynne Champlin, Tovah Feldshuh, Debbie Gravitte, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Karen Mason, Julia Murney, Molly Pope, Emily Skinner, John Tartaglia and Donna Vivino.
The 54 Sings… series will continue with Applause, featuring original stars Len Cariou, Penny Fuller and Lee Roy Reams, April 13 at 7 PM and 9:30 PM; and Time and Again May 11 at 7 PM and 9:30 PM.
