The New York premiere of The Few, by award-winning playwright Samuel D. Hunter, officially opens at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater May 8 following previews that began April 23.

Performances continue through June 8.

Directed by Davis McCallum, the three-person cast comprises Gideon Glick (Spring Awakening, Wild Animals You Should Know), Michael Laurence (Talk Radio, Desire Under the Elms) and Tasha Lawrence (Wilder Wilder Wilder, The Whale).

Here's how the production is billed: "Four years ago Bryan abandoned his labor of love, a newspaper for truckers. Now he’s returned — with no word of where he’s been — and things have changed. His former lover is filled with rage, his new coworker is filled with incessant adoration, and his paper is filled with personal ads. As he considers giving up for good, Bryan searches for what he couldn’t find on the road: a way to keep faith in humanity."

The set design for The Few is by Dane Laffrey. Costume design is by Jessica Pabst, lighting design is by Eric Southern, sound design is by Daniel Kluger, and properties design is by Andrew Diaz. The production manager is Eugenia Furneaux, and the production stage manager is Katie Young.

Hunter's playwriting credits include The Whale, A Bright New Boise, A Great Wilderness and Rest.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater is located at 224 Waverly Place. Tickets and more information are available by calling (866) 811-4111 or visiting rattlestick.org.
