London Bombay Dreams Recoups Its Investment

The London production of Bombay Dreams has returned the entirety of its $7.25 million investment, Variety reported. The news came as the show began its fourteenth month at the Apollo Victoria Theater in the West End. Produced in London by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the musical is a love story set against the backdrop of the Bombay film industry and features music by Hindi composer A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Sunset Boulevard's Don Black. Tony-winning book writer Thomas (The Producers, Hairspray) Meehan is collaborating with Meera Syal on a new book for the Broadway version of Bombay Dreams. Direction will be by Steven Pimlott (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and choreography by Anthony Van Laast and Farah Khan. The production is designed by Mark Thompson with lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound design by Mick Potter. Bombay Dreams currently plays London's Apollo Victoria Theatre at 17 Wilton Road.
