Silk Stockings to Be Presented in NYC Sept. 11-Oct 3

Four semi-staged performances of Cole Porter's Silk Stockings will be presented at the Florence Gould Hall beginning Sept. 11. Silk Stockings was based on the Billy Wilder film Ninotchka. The musical opened at the Imperial Theatre in February 1955, playing 478 performances before closing in April 1956. Directed by Cy Feuer, the original company included Don Ameche, Hildegarde Neff, George Tobias and Gretchen Wyler. Song titles included "Too Bad," "Paris Loves Lovers," "All of You," "Satin and Silk," "Without Love," "Josephine," "Silk Stockings" and "The Red Blues." Florence Gould Hall is located within the French Institute Alliance Française at 55 East 59th Street between Park and Madison Avenues.
