Playwright Kron Joins Benefit Reading of Marrying Wells for Southern Rep
By Andrew Gans
A reading of Dana Slamp's The Importance of Marrying Wells will be presented Oct. 24 at the Perry Street Theatre to benefit Southern Rep, a New Orleans-based professional theatre company whose season was postponed due to Hurricane Katrina. The evening is set to begin with cocktails, live music by Jann Klose, hors d'oeuvres, a raffle and a silent auction at 6:30 PM. The reading will be held at 7:30 PM. The Importance of Marrying Wells, according to press notes, concerns Gavin, "who is gay but pretends to be married, while Jake is rich but pretends to be poor. Can they get the girl and guy while keeping their identities secret?" The Perry Street Theatre is located in Manhattan at 31 Perry Street, west of 7th Ave. Tickets, priced at $25, are available by visiting www.smarttix.com.
