Patricia Kalember to Star in Shortly After Takeoff at Harbor Theater

Patricia Kalember will head the cast of Shortly After Takeoff, a new play by Stuart Warmflash which will have its premiere at the Harbor Theatre Off-Broadway on March 9 for a run through April 2.

The production will take place at Altered Stages (212 W. 29th St.). Opening night is March 11. The cast also includes Tobias Segal, Lucy McMichael, Anthony Bagnetto, Adelia Saunders and Bruce Mohat. Warmflash also directs.

Shortly After Takeoff is set in 1967. It is about Ethan, the 15-year-old son of a deceased father and war protester mother who is trying to find a way to fit in.

The casting of Broadway and Off-Broadway veteran Kalember (Y2K, The Foreigner, The Nerd, television's "thirtysomething") is unusual for the low-profile Harbor Theatre, which, for roughly a decade has quietly produced dramas Off-Broadway. Perhaps its biggest success to date was the 1999 production of Edmund De Santis' Making Peter Pope.
