New Touring Companies of Producers and Hairspray Expected in 2006-07

Fresh national tours of The Producers and Hairspray will be launched by NETworks in the 2006-07 season.

Markets around the country are starting to announce titles for the coming season, and both shows are popping up on schedules. The current Equity national tour of Hairspray wraps this summer; two Equity national touring companies of The Producers lived their road lives in recent years and closed.

A spokesperson for NETworks — which has a history of producing both Equity and non-union tours — told Playbill.com the producer is not yet ready to announce production specifics, such as Equity status, personnel and launch dates and cities.

Markets that will welcome Mel Brooks and Susan Stroman's The Producers include Calgary, Alberta; Colorado Springs; Edmonton, Alberta; Vancouver; Ft. Myers, FL and more.
