Sierra Boggess, who will play the leading role of "I" in the Broadway-bound musical Rebecca, and Tam Mutu, who will co-star as her husband Maxim de Winter, announced Jan. 13 that they are engaged to be married later this year.

Boggess and Mutu, who will begin performances in Rebecca March 27 at the Broadhurst Theatre, met in London, where they performed in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Love Never Dies.

Based on the classic Daphne du Maurier novel (and later turned into an Oscar-winning film by Alfred Hitchcock), Rebecca, according to press notes, "is the story of Maxim de Winter, his new wife ("I") and Mrs. Danvers, the controlling and manipulative housekeeper of Maxim’s West Country estate of Manderley – where the memory of his first wife, the glamorous and mysterious Rebecca, still casts a shadow." The musical will officially open April 22.

Boggess, who starred in the West End as Christine Daaé in Love Never Dies, also performed the role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas. She recently reprised that role in the 25th anniversary concert of Phantom at London’s Royal Albert Hall. On Broadway, she has been seen in Master Class and The Little Mermaid.

Mutu, who will make his Broadway debut in Rebecca, was recently seen as Anatoly in Michael Harrison's production of Chess at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto. His other stage credits include Loves Labours Lost, Anything Goes, South Pacific and Royal Hunt of the Sun at the National Theatre as well as Romeo and Juliet and King Lear at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
