Red Bull Theater to Present Reading of The Roaring Girl With "Shameless" Star Emily Bergl

Emily Bergl will star in a reading of The Roaring Girl, presented by Red Bull Theater, March 24 at 7:30 PM.



Held at the Lucille Lortel Theater, the reading of Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton's play will be directed by Ben Prusiner.

Along with Bergl ("Shameless," Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), the cast includes Sheila Bandyopadhyay, Michael Braun (War Horse), Clifton Duncan, Miriam Hyman, Whit Leyenberger, David Manis (A Free Man of Color, Exit the King), Alex Morf (Of Mice and Men), Tom O'Keefe, Bhavesh Patel (War Horse), Pearl Rhein, Rocco Sisto (Seminar, Amadeus), Raphael Nash Thompson, Sam Tsoutsouvas (By Jeeves, Our Country's Good) and Lisa Wolpe.

"When Sebastian's father refuses to allow his marriage to his love, Mary, he turns to the most unlikely person for help, the feisty and independent 'roaring girl' Moll," press notes state. "With her fearless forays into the scheming London underworld, Moll turns out to be just the right 'man' for the job. Her defiant mischief exposes the hypocrisy of a city gone mad with greed and charts a new and unexpected course to true love."

The reading will feature live music by Pearl Rhein and a post-play Bull Session, discussing the play, with Jean Howard.
