In a press statement, it has been stated: "Due to circumstances beyond their control RUG and AEG are rescheduling the Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour, dates originally planned for March. This is largely due to the enormous demand across the Globe with tours in Australia, Europe and USA to be announced soon. In order to avoid disappointing the thousands of fans who have already purchased tickets for the tour in March, the U.K. dates will be rescheduled for October and the good news is that in addition to the previously announced cities the new time period enables us to add two brand new buildings that were not available in March, the Leeds Arena and The Hydro, Glasgow. All tickets remain valid for the rescheduled shows with refunds available at point of purchase. New shows go on sale Feb. 15."
Last year's run, which marked the show's 40th anniversary, featured Tim Minchin, Melanie C, Chris Moyles, Alex Hanson Ben Forster as Judas, Mary Magdalene, King Herod, Pontius Pilate and Jesus Christ respectively.
The new fall dates, for which casting has not yet been announced, will see the show visit Glasgow's The Hydro (Oct. 1), Birmingham's NIA Arena (Oct. 3), Leeds Arena (Oct. 4), Newcastle's Metro Arena (Oct. 4), Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena (Oct. 8), Nottingham Arena (Oct. 10), Manchester Arena (Oct. 13), London's O2 (Oct. 13) and Lverpool's Echo Arena (Oct. 15).
The Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour is a co-production between AEG Live, and Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Really Useful Group.
