Rory O'Malley, Julia Murney and More Will Be Part of Always for Daniel Concert, Celebrating Life of Playwright Killed in High-Rise Fire
20 Mar 2014
Always for Daniel, a celebration of late playwright Daniel James McClung, who tragically lost his life in a Jan. 5 fire in a midtown Manhattan high-rise apartment building, will be presented June 2 at 7 PM at 54 Below.
The evening, which will feature the music of Judy Garland and Ella Fitzgerald re-imagined, was created by Mr. McClung's friend Michael Zahler.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
