Ryan Silverman Will Join Megan Hilty for NY Pops' Come Fly With Me Concert
08 Nov 2012
Ryan Silverman will join "Smash" star Megan Hilty for the New York Pops' March 8, 2013, concert Come Fly With Me: The Songs of Sammy Cahn at Carnegie Hall.
Silverman (Phantom of the Opera, Cry-Baby) replaces previously announced "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, who had to withdraw from the concert due to a scheduling conflict. Hilty has been seen on Broadway in Wicked and the Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
Steven Reineke will conduct the Pops for the special 8 PM evening. Here's how it's billed: "Academy Award-winning songwriter Sammy Cahn helped shape the careers of legends such as Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, and Dean Martin."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
