25 Mar 2011
Broadway Speaks OUT and Dixon Place will present Broadway Sings for Japan, a benefit concert for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief, March 28 at 7:30 PM at Dixon Place.
Producer Marti Gould Cummings and Lauren Elder will co-host the evening, which will feature the talents of the previously reported Meredith Patterson (42nd Street), Brian Charles Rooney (Threepenny Opera), Bobby Cronin, Jordan Fife Hunt (A Chorus Line), Jenn Furman (Wicked), Tricia Tanguy, Paul Wyatt, Leasen Almquist, Michelle Dowdy, Elena Gutierrez and The Broadway Dolls (Hollie Howard, Tracy Jai Edwards, Nicolette Hart, Robyn Hurder, Heather Parcells).
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
