Sharon Washington, Reg E. Cathey and Crystal Dickinson Set for Reading of Convergence
01 Apr 2013
A reading of Karen Chilton's new play Convergence will be presented April 15 at Joe's Pub.
The 6:30 PM reading will feature the talents of Sharon Washington (The Scottsboro Boys, Wild With Happy), Reg E. Cathey (“The Wire”, Love’s Labor’s Lost) and Crystal Dickinson (Clybourne Park, The Call) with Francois Battiste (The Winter’s Tale, Detroit ‘67) and Lizan Mitchell (Having Our Say, HBO’s “John Adams”).
Awoye Timpo directs. The evening will also feature jazz pianist Xavier Davis, who will be playing live.
Convergence, according to press notes, "uses the relationship between a prominent psychiatrist and her schizophrenic patient to explore the dynamics of class and community. The play’s rhythmic style uses jazz as a metaphor as the dialogue between the characters flows from melodious and harmonious to discordant and cacophonous."
Joe's Pub is located at 425 Lafayette Street. For tickets, priced $15, call (212) 967-7555 or visit joespub.com.
Set in the magical world of La Belle Epoque Paris, where fashion, glamour, and passion prevail, Lerner and Loewe's celebrated musical is a romantic comedy about one young woman's journey to find her true self... and her true love.
