Sheldon and Margery Gray Harnick Will Sign "The Outdoor Museum" at Drama Book Shop; Kate Baldwin to Perform
27 Nov 2012
Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Sheldon Harnick and his wife, actress-photographer Margery Gray Harnick, will present and sign their new book, "The Outdoor Museum: Not Your Usual Images of New York," Nov. 30 at New York City's Drama Book Shop.
The event, moderated by author and theatre critic David Finkle, will be held from 4:30-6:30 PM and include a discussion, Q&A, book signing and performance by Tony Award-nominated actress Kate Baldwin (Giant, Finian's Rainbow).
"The Outdoor Museum," according to press notes, "salutes little known landmarks, and cultural icons as well as the often overlooked urban scenes — young lovers in front of the Broadhurst Theatre, the magic of reflections on Central Park West, reptiles in the subway mosaics under the Museum of Natural History, etc. Each of Margery's striking images in duet with Sheldon's wit, humor and sheer poetry make for an inspiring picture book."
In 2011, Harnick and Baldwin collaborated on "She Loves Him," a CD released by PS Classics and produced by David Frost, that features selections from Harnick's work, including Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me and Fiorello!, among others.
The Drama Book Shop is located at 250 W. 40th Street (between 7th and 8th avenues). For more information, call (212) 944-0595.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
