Shoshana Bean to Celebrate Release of "O'Farrell Street" Album With L.A. Concert
14 Feb 2013
Former Wicked star Shoshana Bean will celebrate the release of her sophomore album, "O'Farrell Street," with a Feb. 20 concert at the Sayers Club in Los Angeles.
The ten-track album, a mix of soul, gospel and R&B, was released Feb. 12. Song titles include "Cold Turkey," "Blood from a Stone," "Quittin' Time," "Gin and Cigarrettes" and "Water."
Here's how the album is characterized: "Shoshana's unique take on vintage soul music of the late 1960's draws inspiration from artists like Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Sam Cooke. She has successfully created a sound that is simultaneously nostalgic and refreshing."
In addition to her run in Wicked and Jerry Mitchell's Peepshow in Las Vegas, Bean appeared in the original Broadway cast of Hairspray and in the Off-Broadway revival of Godspell. Her R&B album "Superhero" was released in 2008.
Tickets to the 9 PM concert begin at $30. A $250 VIP package is also available. Visit ShoshanaBean.com. The Sayers Club is located at 1645 Wilcox Avenue.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
