The Tony-nominated musical Sister Act will be a pulpit for politics later this month. The June 23 performance of the disco-kissed musical will serve as a fundraiser for Barack Obama's 2012 Presidential re-election campaign.

A representative confirmed to Playbill.com that Sister Act producer Whoopi Goldberg will host the evening, with tickets beginning at $250 for mezzanine seating, $1,000 for an orchestra seat and special pre-show reception with Goldberg, and $10,000 for tickets and a photo with Obama. The New York Times first reported the news of the fundraiser.

Ticket information for the fundraiser will be announced shortly.

The Obama family has been a supporter of Broadway over the past three years, with family visits to Joe Turner's Come and Gone, Memphis and The Addams Family. The Obamas also hosted "A Broadway Celebration: In Performance at the White House," which aired on PBS last October.

Sister Act opened on Broadway April 20 under the direction of Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks (Guys and Dolls, The Addams Family). American actress Patina Miller, who earned an Olivier Award nomination for originating the role of Deloris Van Cartier in London, repeats her work for the Broadway run. She was nominated for a 2011 Tony Award for Best Actress in a musical.

Sister Act also earned Tony Award nominations for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical (Cheri Steinkellner, Bill Steinkellner and Douglas Carter Beane), Best Original Score (Alan Menken and Glenn Slater) and Best Featured Actress (Victoria Clark).

The Broadway Theatre is located at 1681 Broadway. For tickets to regular performances phone (212) 239-6200, or visit Telecharge.com.
