Playbill.com's series features actors commenting on their recent theatregoing experiences, what productions they are looking forward to and more. Here, via email, we hear from Broadway singing actress Linda Balgord, who is currently starring in the world premiere of the new revue, Now and Forever: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, now playing Chicago's Marriott Theatre through March 17.
What show recently impressed you? The Mystery of Edwin Drood! I had a fabulous time at that show. The cast was superb, their singing was thrilling, and it was so much fun. I cannot recommend it highly enough. GO SEE IT!
What production are you most excited to see? I am really looking forward to seeing Matilda. I was introduced to Tim Minchin's work a couple of years ago and think he is brilliant. With the great source material and creative team, it should be a wonderful theatrical experience.
What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play? I am really ready to play Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd.
What are your current/upcoming projects? Right now I am in Chicago working on Now and Forever: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. I am back at the Marriott Theatre playing with some dear "old" friends! This is where I got my Equity card while playing Eva (matinees) in Evita.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
