The sold-out 7:30 PM concert, presented by the Coen Brothers and T Bone Burnett (The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County), benefits the National Recording Preservation Foundation, a nonprofit that archives important historical recordings.
"Inside Llewyn Davis," which will arrive in theatres Dec. 6, is set within the 1960's Greenwich Village folk music scene. Sands and Mulligan also appear in the film.
The concert also features The Avett Brothers, Rhiannon Giddens, Lake Street Dive, Colin Meloy, Milk Carton Kids, Marcus Mumford, Conor Oberst, Punch Brothers, Secret Sisters, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Willie Watson and Jack White.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
