The Drama League's 30th Annual Musical Celebration of Broadway, which honors Golden Globe nominee and Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris, takes place Feb. 3.
Hosted by Academy, Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award winner Whoopi Goldberg, the event is held at The Pierre Hotel.
Co-directed by Tony Award winner and Drama League alumnus Michael Mayer with Johanna McKeon, the evening features performances of musical selections drawn from Harris' career in theatre, film and television.
Harris will star on Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which begins performances March 29. He has also performed on Broadway in Assassins and in the New York Philharmonic production of Company. Harris has been honored with four Emmy Awards: three for his acclaimed hosting of the Tony Awards and another for his guest-starring role on "Glee." He also served as host and producer of the 61st and 65th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The black-tie gala supports The Drama League's educational initiatives for promising young artists.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
