Showgasm Aug. 14, 8 PM Tickets: $5
"What is Showgasm you ask? It's direct eye contact with Sharon Stone, a dance craze that began at your bat mitzvah. It's us, babe. Or more simply put, a raucous variety show with performances ranging from hilarious to titillating to utterly inappropriate! Come. You've never looked better!"
Hosted by John Early. Featuring Hamm Samwich and performances by Vinny DePonto, Flaming Mermaid Broken Star, Jemima Kirke, Isaac Oliver and Julio Torres.
Those Lost Boys Aug. 21-23, 8 PM Tickets: $15
"They’re back! Those Lost Boys, the legendary indie band that mysteriously vanished from the independent circuit in the early aughts, will reunite at Ars Nova this August for an exclusive and intimate concert. For the first time, members old and new will play together, and answer all the questions we've been asking ourselves since they disappeared into myth."
Created & Performed by Alvarez, Ebert, Nick Choksi (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), Damon Daunno (Brief Encounter), Brendan Spieth (Lesser America) and Elvy Yost ("Mildred Pierce").
Isaac Oliver: Intimacy Idiot Sept. 5, 8 PM Tickets: $15
"Hailed as 'a monstrous new talent' by New York Magazine and 'a little gay-heavy but still funny' by Los Angeles, Isaac Oliver is back with more hilarious and heartfelt stories, love poems and rants from his forthcoming book, 'Intimacy Idiot.'"
Written and performed by Isaac Oliver. Directed by Jason Eagan.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
