Methtacular!, Steven Strafford's hilarious and harrowing account of his life as a crystal methamphetamine addict in Chicago, will begin performances Aug. 30 at the Playroom Theatre in Manhattan.
Directed by kef theatrical productions artistic director Adam Fitzgerald, the limited engagement will continue through Sept. 23.
Methtacular! is written and performed by Strafford (Spamalot Las Vegas, Peter Pan national tour) and features "wildly outrageous anecdotes and entertaining song stylings," according to press notes. "Told with humor, grace, panache and perhaps most importantly, with honesty and without fear, Methtacular! will make you laugh, cry and laugh again while being taken on a roller coaster ride of humanity."
Other members of the creative team include John McDaniel (music supervision and arrangements) and Aaron Rhyne (video design).
Methtacular! is presented by kef theatrical productions in partnership with Justin Brill (Wicked national tour).
Playroom Theatre is located at 151 West 46th Street. For more information and tickets, visit www.kefproductions.com or www.methtacular.com.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
