Surprise Announcement Made on "American Idol" Broadcast
26 Apr 2013
On the April 25 broadcast of "American Idol," it was announced that the final four contestants – Amber Holcomb, Angie Miller, Kree Harrison and Candice Glover – will all have another chance to perform for America May 1 at 8 PM ET; no contestant was eliminated from the competition.
Votes from this past week's performance show will be combined with votes from next week, giving the four contestants an extra week to impress the judges and the viewers at home.
On the May 2 results show of the singing competition, which also begins at 8 PM ET, the top three finalists will be announced. Season 7 winner David Cook will also perform his new single, “Laying Me Low.”
Former "American Idol" contestants who have taken to Broadway after their stint on "Idol" include Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple), Clay Aiken (Spamalot), Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages), Diana DeGarmo (Hairspray), Frenchie Davis (Rent) and Jordin Sparks (In the Heights) as well as former "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi (Chicago), among others.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
